About Lucas
Lucas has worked as policy officer and project manager in the US, Nigeria and Cameroon for the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the United Nations respectively. In these capacities he collaborated with governments and civil society actors supporting efforts for more transparent and sustainable government & governance in a context with crucial issues of social, political and environmental sustainability.
In Cameroon his portfolio included both national level projects (electoral reform, aid evaluation) and local level projects (capacity building with municipalities). For Lucas ‘sustainable development’ means finding the right balance between people, planet and profit. He is especially motivated by work aimed at helping poor people become more productive without impoverishing their own environment. Lucas holds an M.A. in International Relations from Utrecht University.
When he is not working, Lucas likes spending time outdoors with friends: hiking and cycling are particular delights. He is an avid reader of predominantly non-fiction books (current affairs, popular science), he is fond of both cinema and theatre and he loves dancing.
