About Claudia
Claudia Doets M.Sc. – I hold a degree in tropical forestry from Wageningen University. Ever since I was a child, I was fascinated by how the natural world works. And when I heard the word sustainability in 1994 in my first lecture at University, I saw a way to take this fascination and – hopefully – make a difference.
I started my career working for the government, for the Dutch Ministry of Agriculture. That led me to join the Dutch development organisation SNV. For three and half wonderful years I lived and worked in Vietnam based in Hanoi and Hué.
During that time, I started to see how powerful and dynamic a force the private sector could be in development. I also saw the pivotal role that government regulation can – and should – play in helping change the lives of its people and managing their resources wisely.
So I became more interested in understanding the private sector; how companies make major design choices. How these decisions play out in their natural and social context.
Back in the Netherlands at Ecofys I advised many companies on how to use climate change policy and the carbon market technically to create successful sustainable energy projects.
Setting up Do-inc has allowed me to bring together all my different experiences since I was first introduced to the idea of sustainability, to help turn it into a reality through my work.
I am based in London and run Do-inc’s UK office.
